- About us
We must pay close attention to hazardous waste, such as rechargeable batteries, button batteries, spent fluorescent tubes, waste paint and expired medicines. Improper disposal will cause severe harm to the environment and human health. Only with correct handling methods can we protect the environment and safeguard our health.
To raise residents’ awareness of separate collection for hazardous waste and embed the “green, low‑carbon and eco‑friendly” lifestyle philosophy, the Filial Piety Department together with some colleagues from the IC Factory held the “Hazardous Waste for Love” campaign at Huatong Phase III over the weekend, joining hands to build a beautiful community.
Look! Local residents came to the event one after another.
Volunteers had clear roles: some took registrations, some gave explanations, some checked exchanged items, some kept records, and others managed small gifts. Residents gave them thumbs‑up for their dedication and busy, earnest figures.
“Auntie, regular dry batteries now fall under other waste. Let me help you exchange them. You may dispose of them as residual waste later. Rechargeable batteries and button batteries such as mobile phone batteries are hazardous waste, so please sort them separately next time,” the volunteers explained carefully to residents.
Other volunteers walked around the residential compound handing out leaflets. They introduced waste sorting, where rubbish goes, how waste is treated and its recycling value. They guided residents to bring hazardous waste from home to the site, drop it into dedicated hazardous waste bins and redeem small gifts.
A total of 356 used batteries and 156 boxes of expired medicines were collected in this activity. The campaign helped spread the idea of green, low‑carbon living deep into people’s hearts. Everyone joins in to build and share an eco‑friendly home together.
