In mid-September, Director Xie of our EHS department specially invited Captain Feng Junyi — a nationally honoured police officer and captain of the Community Police Team at the Tong'an Police Station of the High-tech Zone Branch, Suzhou Public Security Bureau — together with Captain Zou of the Huatong Garden Phase VI police service room and other officers, to visit our company for an anti-fraud awareness event. The activity centred on what fraud is, the fraud types most commonly seen, and how to guard against them.

In his lecture, Officer Feng covered three aspects — what telecom and online fraud is, its current state and characteristics, and the most common types of such fraud — giving our employees all-round guidance on how not to be deceived. Drawing on real cases, he systematically summarised the tricks and methods criminals commonly use, analysed in detail why victims fall for them, and carefully explained the countermeasures for each type as well as the steps to take after being defrauded. He urged employees, in everyday life, not to trust easily, not to transfer money and not to be taken in, and to report any similar scam to the police promptly so as better to protect their property.

Officer Zhou also introduced the National Anti-Fraud Center app and the anti-fraud WeChat mini-program to our employees, explaining the principles behind their fraud-prevention features and how they work, helping everyone "keep their eyes wide open" and genuinely strengthen their ability to resist fraud.

To help residents of the surrounding communities raise their awareness of safety and of protecting their information online, the three branches of Zhongshi, Zhongzhen and Gongcheng jointly organised a further event under the theme "With a Grateful Heart, Build a Wall of Safety".

On site, we walked residents through the five major types of telecom fraud: fake order-rebate schemes, customer-service impersonation, online shopping fraud, game-equipment scams and investment-management fraud. Throughout the outreach we stressed the "five don'ts" of prevention: don't listen, don't believe, don't panic, don't scan QR codes, don't transfer money. We also reminded everyone that telecom fraud does not only affect the elderly — young people can easily become victims too, and a high level of education is no guarantee against being defrauded. Through this campaign, we hope to raise community residents' awareness of telecom and online fraud and strengthen their sense of information security.

After hearing our explanation, residents said they would not be tempted by small gains nor swayed by the lure of profit, and thanked us warmly for the briefing. No pie falls from the sky — stay alert to online fraud.
