- About us
White Dew is the fifteenth of the twenty-four solar terms and the third of the autumn season. As the saying goes, "From White Dew to the Autumn Equinox, every night is cooler than the last." The muggy heat of summer is all but over, the weather gradually turns cool, cold air begins to form and dew condenses, and the temperature gap between day and night widens.
The activity began with a PPT presentation and a video, guiding our colleagues to a deeper understanding of White Dew — its climate characteristics, seasonal diet and health care, and traditional customs.
White Dew has three pentads: "First, the wild geese arrive; second, the dark-winged swallows return; third, all the birds store up their food." At this time of year, migratory birds such as wild geese and swallows begin flying south to escape the cold, while other birds start gathering provisions for winter.
Dryness is the hallmark of the White Dew season. Autumn dryness can harm the body, so it is good to eat warm, nourishing foods — lily, lotus seeds, white fungus, pears and lotus root, for instance — which generate fluids and nurture the lungs. "At White Dew keep your body covered; at Cold Dew keep your feet warm." As the weather turns cooler, add clothing and blankets in time, and do not sleep uncovered in the chill; open the windows regularly to keep the indoor air clean and fresh.
Among the folk customs of White Dew are drinking White Dew tea, eating longan and gathering the clear morning dew. Our branch thoughtfully prepared refreshing White Dew tea and sweet longan for the Good-Ark family, letting the charm and fragrance of the season be savoured slowly, on the lips and between the teeth.
The sky is high and the clouds are pale, the air is crisp and the wind is cool. In this lovely, comfortable season, our colleagues stepped out into nature to admire up close the beauty that this time of year brings.
In the early morning, dewdrops trembled and glimmered on emerald leaves and lovely blossoms — truly adorable. Parents brought their children and carefully collected them, discovering the joy of "gathering the clear dew." Looking at the pure dew gathered in their hands, their hearts brimmed with delight and a sense of achievement.
May we all keep an upbeat, positive state of mind, and in the gentle coolness of White Dew harvest a golden autumn of our own!
