As the Start of Summer arrives, to help our family members learn traditional customs of this solar term and appreciate the charm of traditional culture, each branch jointly held the event “Joyful Inheritance, Warm Start of Summer”. Everyone was invited to weave egg pouches, hang them, decorate creative egg figurines and play the egg-fighting game. These activities let participants soak in the unique vibe of Start of Summer and welcome the joy and beauty of summer.

Weave and Hang Egg Pouches

Everyone listened with great interest to the old Suzhou folk tale for Start of Summer: “Wear an egg on your chest at Start of Summer, and children will stay free from summer ailments.” These tiny pouches carry abundant blessings.

Everyone got busy weaving! What wonderful teamwork! Skillful hands crafted egg pouches in various shapes. It brought great delight to hang these colourful hand‑made pouches.

Creative Egg Babies

Kids and parents decorated egg babies boldly together. Look how carefully they paint!

These delicate eggshells brim with vitality and childlike fun. With bright colours, people painted the spirit of Start of Summer, breathing life and charm into every egg. Full of originality, they drew lovely patterns and motifs on summer eggs, painting good wishes and pure childlike innocence onto the shells to greet the Start of Summer.

Fun Egg‑Fighting Game

The exciting moment came! The egg‑fighting contest began! Players tapped duck eggs against one another for great fun. After each “tap”, intact eggs stayed in the game until the final “Egg King” was crowned.

During the event, participants experienced folk traditions of Start of Summer, deepened friendships and enriched children’s childhood memories.

Having bid farewell to the graceful spring, we embrace the thriving summer. At Start of Summer, a solar term for vigorous growth, let us hold warm dreams, grow toward light alongside plants, and live this beautiful life to the fullest.
