Long before dawn breaks and the city is still asleep, a group of people are already weaving through every street and lane beneath the streetlights. They are the respectable sanitation workers, guardians of the city before it wakes up.

I. City Guardians at Dawn

Their calloused hands grip brooms as if holding magic wands to guard the city. Their fluorescent green work uniforms stand out brightly in the morning light, marked by uneven sweat stains like special medals awarded by the city. With simple, quiet efforts, they preserve the cleanliness and beauty of this city day after day.

II. A Summer Pact of Coolness

To express gratitude to these city beautifiers, volunteers carried warm hearts to the temporary assembly point for sanitation workers in Tong’an Town as the hot summer drew near. Upon arrival, they divided tasks right away: some carefully laid out cooling supplies as if preparing precious gifts; others cut watermelons skillfully and poured sour plum juice, concentrating as though crafting works of art.

III. A Heartwarming Encounter under the Blazing Sun

At 11 a.m., under the scorching sun, sanitation workers returned one after another after finishing their cleaning rounds. Tiredness showed on their faces, yet their devotion to work shone even stronger. The volunteers stepped forward promptly and handed over cooling drinks, refreshing watermelon and other heat-prevention supplies.

“You come every year; you are more thoughtful than family!” Lines of warmth spread across the sanitation aunt’s eyes as she took the icy drink. She said what they looked forward to most in the great heat was not shade, but this comforting warmth of “being remembered”. While handing out supplies, volunteers reminded them to take more breaks in the heat. They knew well: it is the dedication of these workers that keeps the city tidy amid the swelter.

IV. An Environmental Commitment from the Heart

We sincerely hope these supplies bring them relief from the heat, and that all workers stay cool and healthy amid hard work. Let us start with small acts: walk a little farther to drop rubbish into bins, sort waste properly to enable rational reuse of resources, and contribute to environmental protection.

V. A Warm Two‑Way Bond

Through this heat-relief delivery and environmental practice activity, we deeply realise: what we give is only a little cool comfort, yet we receive abundant warmth in return. Care is never one‑sided giving; it is a tender journey shared both ways.
